My Background
Personal Profile
Let me tell you the exciting story of how it all began...
As a child, I loved the little dresses my mom would make me! I used to sit by her as she sewed and she would tell me stories of my great, great grandmother as a tailor. Then my mom showed me her very old thimble. I was fascinated by it! I also heard stories of how my maternal Grandmother, out of necessity, taught herself how to sew by deconstructing large yardage clothing items and reconstructing them into new clothes for her large family.
As a teenager, I didn't think I needed to learn how to sew, 'I had a Mother who could do it.' Besides, her style and mine were completely different! I never took home ec classes in high school, because, well, "I already know how to do that.'

But in early 2003, as a wife and mother of two little girls, Easter was coming and I thought 'Mom's make Easter dresses!' So miles away from home, I called up my Mom and asked her to teach me how to sew over the phone. "Do you know what a selvage is?, she said." "No, but I've watched you and I know I can do it." My Mom then explained that my Grandma would be visiting and she could help me in person! I made two little Easter dresses for my girls and I was hooked!
Later, as a Mother of 4 (with #5 on the way!), I went back to school to pursue my dream of getting my Family and Consumer Sciences BS degree. I gained lots of skills and experiences with casual knits to formal wear. I learned to pattern and do alterations and fitting. After graduating I taught high school for three years. But I wanted more. I wanted to work with the community; I wanted to share my skills and talents and bless others.

Recently, I acquired more of my great great grandmother's sewing treasures and many of my grandmother's sewing things. What a treasure!

Fast forward to now and I'm a budding small business owner, community volunteer, teacher, Mother of six, and happily married to my husband for more than 25 years. What an adventure it has been! I'm deeply grateful for the strong women in my life who used their skills and talents to bless their family and community. I'm so glad I chose to learn to sew! What a Legacy! I look forward to serving you soon!
